About

I'm a results-obsessed SAT/ACT tutor with 15 years of math teaching experience, both in the classroom and online. My degrees are in computer science and math. I was a high school math teacher in New York City for 5 years as a Math for America fellow and now I tutor the SAT/ACT full time.

I am currently located in the St. Louis area but work with students from all over the world. Fun fact: what do Thailand, Venezuela, and Arizona have in common? None of them observes Daylight Savings Time!

I would love to help you get your best score on this test. Contact me today for a free consultation 🙂

Louise was a godsend! She knows her stuff, is a fun teacher, and has a gentle touch. Our daughter loved her! We used her for the final two weeks before taking the SATs (mainly math) and wished we had hired her from the start instead of the Princeton Review. Live and learn :)

Our daughter has enjoyed working with Louise. It has helped her feel more comfortable starting freshman Algebra. Louise has been professional and the communication has been outstanding.

    Frequently asked questions

First, we set up a time for the first session. This can be done over the phone, or you can book me directly via my website. Next, we exchange Skype names so we can connect for a voice call (no webcam required). We'll use an online whiteboard to work out problems together. I will give you a call on Skype when it's time for us to get started!

My B.S. is in computer science from the University of Virginia and my M.A. in math education from Columbia University. I taught high school math in NYC for 5 years as a Math for America fellow and am now a full time SAT/ACT and math tutor. I am currently located in the St. Louis area but work with students from all over the world.

Please note that payment is due the night before each session. If no payment is received by that time, the lesson will be considered cancelled and a make-up session will need to be scheduled, though I cannot guarantee that your child's preferred time slot will still be available.

I studied computer science in college and worked as a computer programmer for a government defense contractor near Washington, D.C. during the summers. As I got close to graduation, I felt called into the teaching profession and picked math because there is a great need for math teachers in many areas, and because, well, I love it.

My clients are smart, motivated high school juniors and seniors who need help taking their SAT or ACT score to the next level so they can get into a particular school or program, or qualify for more money in scholarships. I work with students from all over the U.S. and from other countries as well.

I had two students score a 34 on the most recent ACT - way to go!!! One of them came to me with a baseline of 29 and we worked together for 18 hours. The other started with a 30 and we only needed 7 hours.

What kind of results do your students get? Not just one or two star performers, but on average? My students see on average 100 points of improvement on SAT after 10 hours of tutoring. These kinds of increases have made a significant difference in which schools will open my students' applications for review, and what kind of scholarship money they can receive.

Have you considered which test you will take? Students who are fast test takers tend to do better on ACT, and students who prefer to take their time and think through each question may like SAT better for its less stringent time constraints.
