About
My approach is unique to each student and draws in their interests and ways of learning to make the process enjoyable and engaging. When a student is excited, information is easier to learn and fully understand without rote memorization.
I have a rigorous background of course work and am currently engaged in research. This is helpful for tutoring because we can explain why certain methods or quirks of their current class could be important in future courses or in application.
I have 2 years of background as an Organic Chemistry Teaching Assistant and 5 as a STEM instructor for the Discovery Center and Drury SummerQuest. With a 36 ACT and NMSQT award, I am well versed in standardized tests. I have been trained to work with neurodivergent students and am more than happy to adapt to specific needs as is required.
I enjoy watching students get excited and have ideas come together. I will do test preparation (standardized or by course) but I try to keep the emphasis mainly on comprehension rather than scores. Because we focus on the application of ideas, it is easier to connect topics and students can draw from their personal passions. When teaching, I am also pushed to learn with the students to answer more obscure questions and help satisfy curiosity beyond the standard curriculum.

Frequently asked questions
What is your typical process for working with a new student?
Generally, I ask parents or older students about what their objective is. We then talk for 5-10 minutes so I can figure out how they learn and what they are interested in and based off of that, we start working on curriculum. Feel free to book a consultation at https://adaptive-tutoring-100322.square.site/home to see if I can be of any help!
What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
I have 5 years of experience teaching courses for ages 3-15, and was a TA for Organic Chemistry and Biology at the University of Miami. I have worked in STEM education for several years, and gotten maximum scores on all standardized tests that I tutor. Currently I work in nanoparticle toxicity research and am always happy to show lab skills to curious scientists.
Do you have a standard pricing system for your lessons? If so, please share the details here.
I always ask families to set a price that works for them. Cost should never be a barrier to education. After our first session, which is always free, we can set a rate that we will keep for the rest of our sessions.
