I work primarily with students who struggle with reading, writing or spelling, whether they have been diagnosed with dyslexia or not.

I utilize a Structured Literacy approach, which is recommended by the National Institute of Health, the National Reading Panel and the International Dyslexia Association. It is the approach that is supported by scientific research, though it is very different from what is typically used in schools.

I have over 40 years experience working with and teaching children, and I continue to enjoy working with students. I have a Master's degree in Developmental Reading and teach some university courses, including a course on dyslexia for the Teacher Education program at UMKC.

I have been working specifically with struggling readers for over 7 years, and am well researched and knowledgeable about my field.
