Science Tutoring (Pre-Med Expertise)
About
Hi! My name is Alyssa and I am a third year medical student. I have had a love for all things science since elementary school, and knew I wanted to be a doctor for as long as I can remember. I recieived my Bachelors of Science in Biology & Biochemistry from the University of Nebraska. I then recieved my Masters in Biological Sciences from Kansas City University of Medicine. From there I matriculated into their class of medicine 2021. I have done well on my board exams and would love to help any student who is struggling with science related material!
I enjoy being able to help students who are struggling with science. Even if you like the subject, that doesn't mean it will always come easy to you. I want to help students who are on the path to going to medical school excel on their high school/college exams, and ultimately MCAT.

How did you get started teaching?
During my four years of undergraduate school at the University of Nebraska, I found a special interest in Physiology. I applied to be a Physiology Teaching Assistant under Dr. Woodman. I was accepted and taught weekly 30+ student Physiology labs and held weekly office hours.
I also volunteered at Big Brothers Big Sisters of Lincoln. I attended an elementary school and tutored students during their after school program.
What types of students have you worked with?
I have worked with elementary aged students all the way through seniors in college.
Describe a recent event you are fond of.
I was recently accepted into an Obstetric & Gynecology Honors Track through my medical school. Only 4 students were accepted into this track based off grades, GPA, board scores, and extracurricular activities. I was excited to be accepted into this track to help me pursue a career as a physician in Obstetrics and Gynecology.
What advice would you give a student looking to hire a teacher in your area of expertise?
I am hoping to help students who are struggling with science related material. Whether you are in elementary school, high school, college, or medical school, I am here to help!
What questions should students think through before talking to teachers about their needs?
I would like to know what areas students are weak and strong in, in order to maximize efficiency during our sessions.
