Trinese Lawhorn

Hi! My name is Ms. Lawhorn, and I’ve been working in education for over 3 years. I hold a Master’s degree in Early Childhood Education from the University of Missouri–St. Louis and currently teach first grade in the Saint Louis Public Schools district. Over the years, I’ve gained hands-on experience supporting diverse learners and helping students grow both academically and personally.

What I love most about my work is seeing students have those “aha” moments—when something finally clicks and they feel proud of themselves. That confidence is everything, and I strive to build it in every session.

What sets me apart is my ability to connect with students and tailor lessons to their individual needs. I use engaging, research-based strategies—like the PEER method and dialogic reading—to boost reading comprehension, vocabulary, and overall literacy. I also bring a calm, positive energy that helps students feel comfortable asking questions and making mistakes as they learn.
