Tiger Tutoring
About
I am a junior at The University of Missouri - Columbia studying Mathematics and Secondary Math Education. I enjoy connecting with students through learning and seeing them grow knowledge and understanding in content areas. As for experience, I have spent a semester tutoring elementary school aged kids in writing and reading, as well as a semester in an algebra I and geometry class observing and tutoring students at Hickman High school in Columbia, Missouri. My tutoring approach focuses on building relationships with students. This will enhance the students' tutoring experience through the idea that I can tailor a variety of skills and strategies to each particular student I meet.

How did you get started teaching?
I always had a knack for tutoring and mathematics. But when I went to college I ignored my ability to tutor and teach so I set my major as statistics. Soon after, I realized that I was missing out on something and switched to a secondary math education major. This is where my passion for teaching truly came into play. I was able to build relationships with students and make an impact on their lives which is the driving force behind teaching for me. I mainly started to make an difference in students lives and to have a positive influence.
What types of students have you worked with?
I have worked with students of all types. However, I have limited experience with students of special needs.
What advice would you give a student looking to hire a teacher in your area of expertise?
Find a teacher who you connect well with and will be able to develop a relationship with as well. When there is a solid relationship, teachers are able to better understand what motivates you, and have strategies that will work best for you.
