Frequently asked questions
What is your typical process for working with a new student?
Half of the first session getting to know them, the other half what they struggle with and the approach their teachers might be using. From this point we will be able to develop a plan that works for the student.
What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
I was a newspaper editor for two years, only took AP english courses in highschool and I am currently majoring in journalism at the University of Missouri.
Do you have a standard pricing system for your lessons? If so, please share the details here.
My general standard is $20/hr, which is open for negotiation. However last minute sessions or "emergency" sessions are $25 an hour.
How did you get started teaching?
My mother's coworker's daughter was struggling in english and math and I volunteered to help. I soon fell in love with seeing the student start understanding and their feeling of accomplishment is unmatched.
What types of students have you worked with?
I have worked with all types of students and will not turn down a student in need.
