About
Getting to know a student during the process of tutoring is always an adventure and a delight. My students have found me fairly demanding, but always compassionate and fair.
I use many resources, like my online subscription apps which I share with students (e.g. ELLII.com, Study.com) and several of my own construction -- tips, tricks, especially.
I have worked most recently, both in person and remotely, with ESL students preparing for the IELTS and TOEFL exams - young migrant women in Athens, Greece.
I am certified to teach ESL and have 30years' experience, teaching writing, grammar, speech, and English literature in U.S. high schools. I love seeing the light go on when students figure out, with a little coaching, how to compose a thesis statement! And I love watching them figure out the key to a reading or grammar section of standardized tests!
In speech, especially when anxiety is an issue, I've enjoyed seeing students who are hesitant at first, grow into confident speakers and speech-givers!

Frequently asked questions
What is your typical process for working with a new student?
After receiving a request, if I have questions about the specific nature of a student's interest (for a standardized test? for a class? something else?), I will respond with an idea or two. Once we meet, immediatelly after the tutorial, I send a Session Report, explaining what we did, how we did it, and what lies ahead.
What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
I have an undergraduate degree in English (lit, writing) and a Masters in British literature.
I am also certified to teach ELL/ESL
Do you have a standard pricing system for your lessons? If so, please share the details here.
