I have an M.Ed in Second Languages & Cultures (major emphasis in Spanish and a minor in Theatre). I have studied abroad in Spain (twice), and finished FIRST ahead of all the students in the World Language Teacher Grad program at Universidad Cumplentense, but the most important aspect of tutoring with me is how I make language learning fun!

Spanish lessons are well-planned and organized as well as simplified to faciliate understanding any assigned homework. Begining to Advanced levels, I can help you make tremendous progress within a short amount of time using accelerated learning methods that appeal to a variety of learning styles. Instructor-led, student-focused, and results-oriented, my tutoring sessions offer high participation and a great stress-free learning envrionment conducive to maximizing your potential!

I love working most with beginning level students and seeing how quickly they grasp new material. Not only do my students have fun, but as their Tutor/Instructor, I too am having fun. Creative lesson planning is my strength and seeing my students take steps forward and make tremendous progress is a great reward.

What is your typical process for working with a new student?

Utilizing Accelerated Learning Techniques, we work on all the modalities for listening, speaking, reading, and writing, along with learning new vocabulary, conjugating verbs, and practicing grammar. We will focus on completing homework assignments, studying and preparing for tests, as well as practice conversational skills. We will always have student focused, instructor-led learning sessions with well-organized lesson plans to help meet the student's main goals and objectives. I offer both "in-person" as well as "on-line zoom" tutoring sessions.

What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?

I have an M.Ed in Second Languages & Cultures. I used to teach Spanish K-12 in the Hopkins and Osseo School Districts as well as at the University of Minnesota, University Language Center, Normandale Community College, St. Thomas University, Mesabi College, Vermilion College, and Camden County College in New Jersey. I was also the District Chair of Foreign Languages for the El Dorado School District #15 in El Dorado, AR. Additionally, I have studied abroad in Spain and graduated FIRST in my Teachers of World Language Master Class.

$50/hr (60 minutes tutoring session) or $75 for 90 minutes tutoring session.

How did you get started teaching?

I really enjoyed how my own high school Spanish teach made learning the language so much fun - I was inspired to follow in her foot steps. I also participated in the Concordia Language Village Camps and had traveled to many Spanish speaking countries so I was very motivated to learn the language and always looked forward to someday becoming a Spanish teacher and making learning Spanish easy and fun for my own students.

What types of students have you worked with?

I have worked with all ages K-12, College students, business students, Home-schooled students, retired professionals, etc...I have worked with a variety of learning levels and I offer a variety of teaching methods to meet my student's preferred learning styles.

Describe a recent event you are fond of.

I enjoy traveling to Spanish speaking countries where I get to use my own Spanish language skills with people I meet throughout my travels.

What advice would you give a student looking to hire a teacher in your area of expertise?

For best results and gaining the most progress, be sure to do all the suggested exercises your tutor recommends and most importantly, just breathe, relax, don't get too stressed out - have fun! :-) Your learning success will increase when you are enjoying the process.
