Hi! I'm Mara, a licensed Special Education teacher with a passion for helping students become confident, successful readers.

I believe every child can learn to read with the right support, encouragement, and individualized instruction. With experience working with students of all learning abilities, I create lessons that meet each learner where they are while building the skills they need to succeed.

My instruction is grounded in the Science of Reading and informed by LETRS (Language Essentials for Teachers of Reading and Spelling) training. I use research-based strategies to help students strengthen foundational reading skills, including phonemic awareness, phonics, fluency, vocabulary, and reading comprehension. Whether your child is struggling with decoding words, improving fluency, or understanding what they read, I provide targeted instruction that leads to meaningful progress.

My tutoring sessions are engaging, encouraging, and personalized to each student's unique strengths, goals, and learning style. I celebrate every success, big or small, and strive to create a positive environment where students feel safe taking risks, asking questions, and growing as readers.

As a Special Education teacher, I understand that every child learns differently. I have extensive experience supporting students with diverse learning needs and know how to adapt instruction to help each learner reach their full potential. My goal is not only to improve reading skills but also to build confidence and foster a lifelong love of learning.

I work with elementary students and older learners who need additional reading support. Together, we'll build the skills, confidence, and motivation needed to help your child become a stronger, more independent reader.
