Hello,
My name is Toby-Ellen Finley, and I recently retired after 34 years of teaching in Minneapolis Public Schools—31 of those years at the same school. I’ve primarily taught third and fifth grade, with the last 11 years focused on fifth graders.
Reading and writing are my passion. I help students become confident, independent readers and expressive, organized writers. My experience in an International Baccalaureate (IB) school also allows me to bring a global perspective to literacy instruction.
I’d be an exceptional tutor because of my deep knowledge, dedication, and ability to connect with students. I’m flexible, patient, encouraging, empathetic, and bring a sense of humor to my work. I care deeply about helping every student grow.
