Reed Write Edit, LLC
About
Hello! My name is Emily and I'm a professional writer. Writing has been my passion since sixth grade; I fell in love with how words could create new worlds and how powerful they can be! I graduated from Grand Valley State University with a Bachelors in Writing. Since graduating, I've worked for two local magazines, News Channel 3, and opened my writing business, Reed Write Edit, where I specialize in writing for small businesses. I'm currently pursuing certifications in marketing to help further my career. I firmly believe that writing is an essential skill everyone should learn to do well, which is why I'm here. As the online world expands, so has the need for writing.

Frequently asked questions
What is your typical process for working with a new student?
I like to get to know my students a little first so that we can be familiar with each other and make sure we're a good fit. I like to also start by understanding their personal goals for tutoring so we can work on those together. If there's a specific project that needs to be worked on, I'd like to understand more about the goals of the project so we can make sure we're accomplishing those for the final project.
What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
I have recently graduated from Grand Valley State University with a Bachelor of Arts degree in Writing and a minor in Political Science. My education has given me many experiences in working with other professionals, authors, students, and allowed me to gain writing and editing experience in the many different areas of the field. I am also currently the editor for Women's LifeStyle Magazine of Greater Kalamazoo that has given me opportunities to both write, edit, and communicate with a wide variety of people.
Do you have a standard pricing system for your lessons? If so, please share the details here.
I'd like to start with a base rate of $15/hr. However, I understand that this might not work for everyone, so I am open to communicating and negotiating.
How did you get started teaching?
I think that communication is an extremely important and necessary skill to have, and writing is an important part of communication. Helping students learn to express themselves and communicate their thoughts through writing is something I've gained a passion for. I feel like I can offer people more than just my edits, but methods to help write better and more creatively.
What types of students have you worked with?
This is my first time working one-on-one with students as part of a career choice, but throughout my years of writing I have helped other students and family members with their projects.
