I worked as a teaching assistant to college professors for 3 semester courses. I have a Bachelors of Science in Sociology; graduated Summa Cum Laude; 3. 9 GPA. I earned my Master of Arts degree from the University of Michigan in Instructional Theory and Practice with a focus in Social Studies; 3. 8 GPA. I am currently working as a training coordinator for IT/Technology at a foster care agency. I have a passion for teaching and a lot of experience. I am originally from Miami, Florida. I am fluent in English and Spanish.
I enjoy the "aha" moments. The scaffolding that I put in place for students feels like solving a puzzle to me. I make things work for my students so that they can learn effectively and with as little frustration as possible. Figuring that out takes a few lessons, but I know I've got it once I can see things clicking for students. Those are the best moments.

Frequently asked questions
What is your typical process for working with a new student?
I chat with the student and have them do an activity with me to assess their current proficiency with the subject. I then plan a course of action, sometimes including them in the planning process if they are of an appropriate age. After each planned lesson is executed, I re-evaluate the effectiveness of my plan and adjust as necessary for the next lesson. Sometimes, I make adjustemnts during the lesson, if possible and necessary. I always encourage feedback from students and parents, and keep both updated regarding progress and opportunities for improvement.

How did you get started teaching?
At every job I've ever had, I've always ended up teaching, tutoring, and training others, including customers, co-workers, and students. I naturally gravitate towards it, and always feel in my comfort zone when I am teaching others.
