Jen's Tutoring Services

Hello potential students and families,

My name is Mrs.Jen. I have been teaching full time since 2003, and I am currently still teaching 2nd grade! I am married and also a parent to three amazing children, whom will be entering 7th grade, 10th grade, and 12th grade this upcoming school year!

I completed my undergrad degree at Oakland University, and I’m certified to teach kindergarten through 8th grade (self-contained), as well as junior high/middle school 6th, 7th, and 8th grade Reading, Language Arts, Math, and Science. Additionally, I have a master’s degree in Teaching Reading and Language Arts, also from Oakland University. Since I began teaching, I have been asked to be on the District Language Arts Curriculum Committee twice, once when I was teaching middle school, and once when I was teaching elementary. In 2007 I was nominated and awarded Middle School Teacher of the Year in my district, and have been nominated 3 additional times for Elementary Teacher of the Year.

I am enthusiastic and encouraging with all students I work with! The first step is always getting to know a student and building a relationship with them because if they do not trust you, they cannot learn from you. My goals as a tutor are for students and parents to see tangible results, as well as for students to truly understand the material being taught so that they can feel both confident and excited about learning, which will hopefully aid them in being able to transfer that to their daily lives in and out of the classroom.

I will not accept a tutoring job unless I am confident that I will be able to help that student!
