About

Hello, my name is Michael Bell!

I am a third year pre-medical student at Oakland University's Honors College studying biochemistry. I have a 3.95 GPA and love to learn and teach science.

I am an expert in undergraduate biology, chemistry, organic chemistry, biochemistry, and physics. These courses are the foundation of the pre-medical curriculum for all students pursuing careers in health sciences such as medicine, dentistry, physical therapy, etc.. I am also familiar with the high school AP chemistry and AP biology courseload.

I have helped many of my colleagues prepare for school exams and the MCAT, as well as aid them with their professional development. In my experience, students are most successful when they focus on understanding the material, rather than seeking shortcuts to correct answers.

My goal is to walk my students through their subjects so they will be able to answer any question they may see in the future.

I am extremely passionate about science as a whole and love teaching it to others. I find it very rewarding to watch my students as they begin to understand topics which were once difficult and daunting to them.

Frequently asked questions

When working with new students, I first inquire about their science backgrounds. Since science builds off itself, understanding new concepts may be easier when it can be related to material the student is already familiar with.

When beginning a new concept, I let my students attempt a problem first and follow their train of thought. From here, I can tailor how I describe topics to best fit how they think.

I charge $15/hr regardless of the subject(s) covered in the lesson.

Students should look for teachers/tutors who have completed the academic or professional pathway which the student aspires to complete.

What does the student expect from their tutor? What are their goals, and do they need to understand their course material for their career, an important standardized test, or just their class?

Different goals require different approaches, and tutors can be of greatest utility to their students if they know what the student wants.
