Ms. Cooper
About
I am a full-time ELA teacher for 7th grade students, but have experience through the high school level. I am in the beginning of my teacher career, so I am constantly learning new things but am always excited to do so. My favorite thing about teaching is making connections with kids, showing them I care, and using that to fuel learning.
I graduated from Saginaw Valley State University with a degree in English for Secondary Education. I have been honored and recognized locally by the NAACP and MEA for being an educator of color and making a change in my small community. I'm looking for summer employment, I still only have an interest in continuing to teach!

Frequently asked questions
What is your typical process for working with a new student?
Getting to know a student is always my priority. I feel that understanding kids is the most efficient way to teach myself how to help them learn. I focus a lot on the basics with reading and writing. As a youth coach, I know that repetition builds strength in a skill, and that's what I like to focus on.
What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
I am currently pursuing my Masters degree in Literacy, and am always enrolled in some furthering education courses to strengthen my teaching skills.
