Frequently asked questions
What is your typical process for working with a new student?
When first meeting a kiddo, I take time to get to know them. I build a relationship. Academics cannot begin until the relationship is formed. Next, I assess present levels to determine a starting point as well as interview the student and family on goals. Finally, I begin exploring which interventions will work for the kiddo I am working with.
What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
I have a BA in Elementary Education with Special Education and a MA in Special Education with a focus in Autism.
Do you have a standard pricing system for your lessons? If so, please share the details here.
I charge whatever the family is reasonably able to afford.
How did you get started teaching?
Before I start teaching, I build a relationship with the student.
What types of students have you worked with?
I have worked with students kindergarten to 6th grade.
What advice would you give a student looking to hire a teacher in your area of expertise?
Find a teacher who you have a connection with. Someone who shares your interests and goals.
