Elementary Education, Essays, And Testing
About
I am a Certified Teacher and a graduate of the University of Michigan. I have spent 6 years working with students from preschool to the eighth grade in a professional setting. I have worked in traditional classrooms and resource rooms teaching students of a variety of abilities.
I pride myself in the connections I form with my students. I enjoy adapting my style to the needs of those I work with. I am able to accomplish this with play and talking about special interests. It is truly a joy to serve students and their families.

Frequently asked questions
What is your typical process for working with a new student?
My first step to getting to know a new student is to find out what they like, what they dislike, and talking through the first lesson. Building trust with a student before we set goals, gives me a great idea how to approach tutoring with that student. I also assess what motivates them. That way I know what can drive the student to concentrate and put in the effort.
What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
Bachelor's of Arts in Elementary Education from the University of Michigan Ann Arbor
Substitute Teaching Certificate
K-8 Classroom Teaching Certificate
Do you have a standard pricing system for your lessons? If so, please share the details here.
$25 per hour for the first consultation session with the student.
After that I'd be happy to go over details and negotiate with the family.
How did you get started teaching?
I started with volunteer tutoring in a high school peer-to-peer program. At the time I was planning to be a pediatrician!
Soon I realized that teaching was a better way for me to serve children and families. From then, I've been tutoring, student teaching, and substitute teaching in Michigan. I recently relocated to Virginia to continue working as an educator.
What types of students have you worked with?
I've worked with students of all ages and all abilities.
