Elementary And Middle School Tutoring
About
Hello! I am Lauren and I am 23. I am a 4th and 5th grade science and social studies teacher and I am so passionate about teaching. I graduated from Michigan State University with a major in Elementary Education with a focus in Language Arts and minors in Spanish and TESOL. I am currently attending Relay Graduate School of Education to get my Masters in Teaching, and am a member of Teach for America. I have 4 years of experience teaching all subjects, and love making learning fun and understandable.
I love helping others learn and finding the best ways to help students understand what they are learning. I know that everyone learns in different ways and it is important to play off of the strengths of each student to help them learn the best that they can. The pandemic has brought about many challenges for students academically and so I am passionate about catching students up with their learning and helping them feel confident and on-track.

Frequently asked questions
What is your typical process for working with a new student?
Personal relationships are so important to the learning process. I always prioritize taking the time to get to know students personally so that I can teach them in a more holistic manner. It is important students learn about me as a person as well to build that trusting and productive relationship. I enjoy learning about student passions and goals, as well as what they are up to on a casual day. Social-Emotional Learning is another way that I can support and learn about the whole student and not just their "school" self.
