What is your typical process for working with a new student?
Typically, I like to meet with the student, virtually or in person, to discuss the writing samples they have submitted in an effort to flesh out where exactly the student's issues lie. If the student is having trouble with a piece of literature, I will need information on the text in order to be the most helpful. Over a series of meetings, the student and I will work through their issues in order to develop the skills they need to successfully demonstrate good reading and writing behaviors in the future.
