Taylor VanRemmen Tutoring
About
I am currently a 3rd-5th grade Special Education teacher and am very familiar with Common Core learning standards for K-5 academic content areas.
I have ample resources and experience working with elementary students in Math, Reading and Writing and am available for 6 weeks of intensive tutoring this summer that will help your elementary student catch up following COVID-19 spring school closures.
I plan to review content that was covered virtually from March until June with students whose parents believe they missed important learning during that time. My committment is to helping prepare your child to enter the following grade level come fall 2020. I look forward to working with you and your child!

Frequently asked questions
What is your typical process for working with a new student?
Typically I would have a meeting with both the student and the parents to discuss areas of need and establish mutual expectations. This conversation would allow us to determine if the tutoring match is a good fit and will be productive for the child's learning. If so, then we can move forward with tutoring as we keep conversation and communication open. This would allow for any changes to be made in instruction or areas of need as the parent felt fitting or as I saw a need for.
What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
I went to Hope College and graduated in 2018 with a degree in Elementary Education (K-8) and endoresements for Learning Disabilities and Emotional Impairments (K-12).
During college, I worked for two years as a tutor for a local family and continued my tutoring work the last two years at Achieve Tutoring Center in Jenison, Michigan.
I am now a 3rd-5th special education teacher and have student taught in K-2nd placements. These experiences have provided me with a lot of familiarity to K-5 standards and concepts. With access to district pacing guides being available online, I feel confident assessing what concepts were missed during COVID-19 school closures and supplementing that learning for your child before they return to school in the fall.
