Grand Valley State University
About
I am a 5th year undergrad student at Grand Valley State University (GVSU) studying elementary education with an English emphasis. I am currently wrapping up my teacher apprenticeship semester and will be completing my student teaching semester this winter. On top of that full-time course-load, I want to tutor students in reading on the side, as this is a passion of mine. I have learned about Science of Reading and put it into practice in varying capacities while virutal tutoring in 2021 through GVSU's K-12 Connect Tutoring Services, during a summer internship with the Memphis Teacher Residency this past summer, and through my placement for teacher apprenticeship at Apline Elementary (Kenowa Public Schools). I absolutely love working with children and helping them discover a love of learning is the best feeling as a future educator.
I have also been a substitute teacher in various schools throughout Kent, Ottawa, and Allegan counties since 2019. I served as a building substitute at Townline Elementary School (Kentwood Public Schools) all of last year and supported wherever they needed me throughout the building (and sometimes the district when there was a need)
