I am currently a freshman in high school and math is my favorite subject! Throughout school I have maintained a 4.0 gpa and I've been in advanced math since third grade. I often help my peers when they're struggling to understand concepts. I have also volunteered at a preschool where I helped the kids with their assignments and activities. A class assignment once required me to teach a math lesson to fourth graders; it went really well and I loved it! I am part of the swim team and the lacrosse team at school as well as student council and the National Junior Honors Society. Not only that, I have received awards for my academic excellence through my school and other school related activities. I have taken part in Science Olympiad and HOSA, both in which I placed in my events and won points for my team. Overall, I am a model student and I have some experience teaching younger children. What is your typical process for working with a new student?
First, I would like to get to know the student a little bit and understand what topics they are struggling with. Then I will try to figure out what type of learner they are (visual, auditory, kinesthetic). With this information, I can better understand how to formulate the lesson.
What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
I am a high school student so I do not have any credentials. However, I am great at math and I have some experience working with and teaching children from volunteering at a preschool.

How did you get started teaching?
Once for a school assignment I had to plan and teach a math lesson to fourth graders. It went very well and I got a good response from the students. This made me think about wanting to teach in the future and tutoring is a great way to do that!
