What is your typical process for working with a new student?
I always want my student(s) to feel comfortable wherever they are, so I feel that starting with getting to know who I'll be working with is a great place to start. I don't want my student(s) to feel pressured in doing anything and are actually having fun while learning.
What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
With only being 18 years old and only having a high school diploma, I get my experience or training from tutoring the students at my former high school. Although they are much older than the age I will be helping now, it has helped me prepare for a time like this.
Do you have a standard pricing system for your lessons? If so, please share the details here.
I have a standard price of $30/hr. I want to make sure every child I tutor is confident in what they learned and are excited to learn something new each day.
How did you get started teaching?
I began teaching when I was in 10th grade. I would stay after school often to help students out with their homework or understanding a topic that was taught in class. I enjoyed it so much that I wanted to further tutor kids but of a younger age.
What types of students have you worked with?
Graduating high school on the priciples list, I've worked with all ages: at school and as a side job. I was a tutor for science and math for students 14-18 years and I currently babysit a kindergardener as I help her with her homework and understanding the content she's learning.
