What is your typical process for working with a new student?
When seeing the student for the first time I like to do a small evaluation to see the weekness points, and the points of strenghts. Depending on this evaluation and on what the student thinks he/she is struggling in I will begin the sessions.
What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
I have bachelors in English Education, as well as I had taught English, Math, and Arabic for over 14 years.
Do you have a standard pricing system for your lessons? If so, please share the details here.
I charge $20 per hour for k-12, however if the student requests more than 10 hours then the charge would be $18 per hour.
For middle school I charge $25 per hour, and if the student requests more than 10 hours, then the charge would be $22 per hour.
How did you get started teaching?
I have always wanted to become a teacher, my parents wanted me to go to medical school, but I felt that teaching was my passion.
What types of students have you worked with?
I have worked with all types of students, special needs, gifted, accelerated, struggling and many more. I have always helped everyone of the students.
Describe a recent event you are fond of.
I have a student who's mother had jsut moved to the united states and is struggling with her son learning the English Language, so I was hired to help him, he did not know the simple English words. After 3 months, he was able to read and write, he had the perfect accent, he was doing great in school and was catching up with his peers.
What advice would you give a student looking to hire a teacher in your area of expertise?
I think that you should try to find someone that can help you improve emotionally as well as academically.
What questions should students think through before talking to teachers about their needs?
I think that the students should write down everything that they think they need help with no matter how small they think the issue is, this small issue can turn into a bigger one, and sometimes there is no way for the tutor to know about this issue.
