I possess a Bachelor's of Business Administration from University of Michigan - Dearborn and a Master's of Information Systems Management from Keller Graduate School at DeVry University
I have used Excel for 25+ years in that time I worked in Finance for 15 years closing the books for global corporations, doing financial analysis & reporting, forecasts, and dashboards . Work experience involved Revenue, Expense and Capital Accounting.
Deciding on a career change and leveraging my finance experience I went to work as a Financial Systems Analyst (now with 10 years experience) using MS Excel, databases, SQL, VBA, and other tools and languages to develop custom applications for the finance community.
Studied Math up to Calculus I (10 years), including Algebra, Geometry and Trigonometry, which are my best subjects. I also carried my math skills into my science classes, Chemistry and Physics, which helped me retain what I learned.
Economics (Micro & Macro). Economics is treated as a theory and science, but it affects how we live everyday and how we spend our money.
Accounting, I have completed Accounting classes from Principles I & II on up to Cost and Managerial Accounting.
Having a hobby is a great way of releasing stress. I studied Fine Arts (Drawing, Pastels, and Oil) have been told I am very talented, but never pursued it professionally. Who makes money at art? I have a portfolio of over 30 works from over 5 years. Including Portraits, Landscapes & Sculpture.
The challenge of figuring out a puzzle, and the pride / impressions I make from delivering polished work well done.

What is your typical process for working with a new student?
There are multiple ways people learn. Some of the ways people learn are by doing, seeing, hearing. We need to figure out how you learn best and capitalize on it. I also know some memory tricks to help you remember and retain what you have learned.
What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
I have worked hard in school to try to be at the top of my classes through my 16 years of school. Regardless of what grade I recieved, I participated in class to get a practical understanding, later in life I determined there is a difference between practical understanding and understanding a subject for a test. We will cover how to do both, one for you and the other to make the grade!
Do you have a standard pricing system for your lessons? If so, please share the details here.
Sorry, at this time I do not have a standard pricing for my lessons. That is because students are not standard in their needs. Some need a basic understanding others may have more complex or continual needs. Please describe your needs and ask for a quote.
How did you get started teaching?
I got started teaching by having siblings, co-workers and friends ask me to help them understand concepts I understood. Little did I realize I was teaching. Also in many of my jobs I was asked by my bosses to create "Desk Procedures" which over the years became manuals on how to do the job. This skill involved taking screen snapshots, using arrows and captions calling out what was happening. Over time I was my worst critic and determined I had to "show ALL my steps" just like I did when I was doing math problems when I was young.
What types of students have you worked with?
Hmm, interesting question. Generally I will say my students have either been impatient / mild understanding / had trouble following a concept.
I have learned some students can be impatient, while others have trouble following. So, with that in mind a self paced tutorial will help both students. I also have realized that "pictures speak a thousand words" for the impatient student he can breeze over the pictures while the one having trouble will have to read the descriptions and callouts to discover what is happening.
Describe a recent event you are fond of.
The event I am most fond of is graduating with a Masters of Information Systems Management, in 2013. During which I developed excellent research skills.
What advice would you give a student looking to hire a teacher in your area of expertise?
The "Good Teachers" I remember had multiple ways of expressing an idea because, not all students learn the same way. Also, a good teacher will challenge their students to think. In your life up to now most of what you have learned was through a teacher. As life goes on, life will be your teacher, never close your mind to being teachable. As long as you are learning, you are always growing!
