English Literature With Jade

I believe that students are incredibly insightful, and sometimes all it takes to make that clear is a new framework for thinking. I’m a compassionate, curious, and enthusiastic tutor who helps students achieve their goals.

I'm passionate about sharing what made literature click for me. As a high school senior, I earned a 5/5 on the AP Literature and Composition exam. Over the years, I’ve developed efficient and flexible techniques for close reading and analytical writing at and above the AP level. I’m knowledgeable about the texts I teach, and if I haven’t taught a particular text, I strive to understand it well before our first session. Texts I’m familiar with include:

Sessions are structured around what the student wants to practice, and I incorporate other essential skill sets so students feel more confident about their abilities. Areas of practice could include exploring themes and/or literary devices in a specific text, outlining an essay in response to a prompt, doing a close reading of a poem or passage, or reviewing a student's writing to see where they could improve.

I listen and adapt to students’ needs and concerns. I strive to teach my students to understand and enjoy English curriculum, whether students want to build foundational skills in preparation for future AP English classes or to refine their analytical and creative writing methods.

Throughout tutoring sessions, I’m dedicated to creating a positive, engaging, and personalized learning environment where students can achieve their image of success.
