Pre-Algebra To Calculus Math Tutoring
About
I will soon be graduating from University of Maryland with a mechanical engineering degree and a GPA above 3.70. I have received an A or A+ in every math course I have taken since middle school with classes ranging from pre-algebra to differential equations.
Math is like a puzzle to me, and I love solving puzzles! I find ways to break each problem down into small easy steps because that is how I like to solve them. I find this works for a lot of people too. My goal is to not only help students earn better grades in their classes, but to help them discover the same joy in puzzle solving as I have when solving math problems.

Frequently asked questions
What is your typical process for working with a new student?
I like to receive assignments ahead of time if possible. This will give me time to presolve the problems and write out the steps. This also gives me a chance to generate new practice problems. When I meet with the student, I like to let them try problems first and talk out their process. I find the best way to learn is through self-discovery, so I will nudge them in the right direction until they solve the problem themselves. Once they complete it, we will review the steps.
What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
I am graduating with a GPA over 3.70 in mechanical engineering at the University of Maryland. I have gotten A's in every advanced math course I have taken (calculus 1 & 2, multivariable calculus, and differential equations) as well as several challenging physics and mechanics courses that are math and calculus intensive. I have also held internships at fortune 500 companies including Stanley Black and Decker and ExxonMobil.
Do you have a standard pricing system for your lessons? If so, please share the details here.
For May 13 - June 30th, I will do 1 hour tutoring lessons for $15/hr if the customer is willing to rank me and write me reviews after a few sessions. I will also offer a free 1 hour first session to try out the experience.
What advice would you give a student looking to hire a teacher in your area of expertise?
Don't find somebody who will just give you the right answer. Find somebody who gives you the tools and inspires you to challenge yourself to discover the answer yourself. That way it will be locked in for the rest of your career.
