*****I SPECIALIZE IN K-2 & 11-12 READING/English AND PK-2 MATH****
Hello! My name is Jalyn Stovall. Prior to my current job as a tutor with a well-known company, I taught general early elementary education for 3 years and SAT Prep Reading & Writing for 11th & 12th grades for 1 year. After my first year of teaching, it was very clear that I had a special bond with children that need academic support. Teaching them comes naturally to me and gives me a deep sense of personal satisfaction.
I completed my Masters of Science degree in Education at Johns Hopkins University in 2020. While there, I studied elementary education as well as K-12 special education extensively. I am readily aware of the procedures and guidelines set forth by IDEA, ADA and other codes, regulations, and relevant testing and assessment models shaping the way we educate today.
Through tutoring, I have gained a broader understanding of elementary students’ unique needs academically and how to provide one-to-one and small group intervention. In fact, I much prefer working one-to-one with students because it builds a better educational relationship.
I recognize that I work best with one-to-one interactions. I intend to bring a higher level of competency to tutoring. I am confident that my professional qualifications meet and exceed those demanded of this position.
My favorite thing about the work I do is seeing the joy of a student who has learned a new concept. My purpose in education is to be a person who students can feel safe, encouraged and curious around.
