About
I love to see my students naturally digest new information and improve at their own pace. I encourage the open-minded learning style, which appreciates the idea that we can find lessons and answers in everything if we are willing to embrace this concept.
I enjoy observing the process unfold, watching my students realize they are capable of achieving whatever they set their mind to.

Frequently asked questions
What is your typical process for working with a new student?
I begin by first understanding the student
-what motivates them
-what are there most noticeable strengths -what are their preferred learning styles
-where specifically can they improve
After that I implement a strategy that challenges my student to engage with new information. I believe in strengthening their strengths and silencing any doubts that they may have.
What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
Im currently working as a tutor for three families in NW D.C who were previously unable to keep their kids motivated and receptive to gaining new information while learning virtually this past year.
I am also a certified ESL teacher.
Lastly I have 8 years of experience working with children ages 0-12 in a daycare program, as a tutor/mentor, and assistant teacher.
Do you have a standard pricing system for your lessons? If so, please share the details here.
I charge $20 for my services, depending on the number of students I am working with and their individual needs.
How did you get started teaching?
It started when I moved from California to Maryland, I started out in a day care in Bethesda and loved working with children. I started to tutor, almost immediately and also working as a nanny/mentor (especially children with special needs) so that I could work more closely with families and witness other kinds of development.
What types of students have you worked with?
-Multiples/twins
-Special Needs
-Children with behavioral problems
-Children ages 0-12
-Students whose first language isn't English
-Children who have trouble beginning to read
-Children who are unmotivated or drained in maths
Describe a recent event you are fond of.
I work with a nine year old who has trouble focusing on one thing at a time and whose speech and writing are delayed. Mid 2020 he was unable to sit still in his Zoom classes without me next to him, but now he has blossomed and has so much confidence in himself. He knows now to allow his teacher to give full instructions so that he can understand his lesson. I provide private tutoring after his live instruction is complete in order to supplement/reinforce what new information he is taking in.
Now that he is out of his classes we are working on fourth grade level work so that he can come into the new school year with his best foot forward.
What advice would you give a student looking to hire a teacher in your area of expertise?
Look for someone who lifts your mindset, someone who can give you peace and encouragement and knows how and when to push you. Gaining new knowledge should be done out of genuine interest as opposed to a concern of duty or honor.
What questions should students think through before talking to teachers about their needs?
-Am I motivated enough?
-Do I care about getting a good grade or excelling in general?
-Why do I need to understand this better?
