What is your typical process for working with a new student?
The process begins discussing with the family and student what they hope to gain from lessons. Then setting up a lesson time the best fits the schedule for the family and what is best for the student. Once lessons begin Rachel will decide what materials (books, packets, etc.) will be used in class. As lessons progress, students will be given a performance oppporunity.
What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
Rachel Seibels background is in French Horn, all brass, piano, and choral voice. Her education is comprised of classical training, conservatory lessons, and a B.M. in Music Education. She also has been teaching for 7 years in two states, which allows for a wide variety of exposure and experiences.
Do you have a standard pricing system for your lessons? If so, please share the details here.
Base scale is: 30 minutes = $25, 45 minutes = $40, 50 minutes= $45, and 60 minutes = $50. This will vary based on level of student. Please contact the provided email to discuss pricing for special needs and ED, these lessons are tailored for the students personal growth as does price.
How did you get started teaching?
Rachel was raised by educator parents and music performing grandparents- together they helped her begin conservatory training and teaching certifications in high school. From there Rachel moved to Virginia for college but taught lessons privately and lessons for local public schools. After 4 years in Viriginia, Rachel is back in Maryland and teaching lessons again.
What types of students have you worked with?
Rachel has worked with students ranging from special needs/ed all the way to accelerated program students. Rachel does not descriminate against any and all individuals, rather welcoming all people to grow musicially.
