About
I am very passionate about teaching and working with individuals from a variety of backgrounds and life experiences. I have a Master's degree in Reading Education, a certification to teach ESL learners and a BS in Journalism. I believe that my education combined with teaching experience enable me to understand your needs.
I am also a published writer and I have been writing for much of my life. My articles are available to read if you would like.
Furthermore, I am very passionate about working with students who are Deaf or who using American Sign Language for other reasons. My 10-year-old daughter is Deaf and I am also very passionate about learning to communicate with her in American Sign Language.
My experience with teaching is vast.I have taught in Baltimore City and Frederick County schools, worked one-on-one with students and I have also taught Developmental Reading at the Community College of Baltimore County for two years and a GED course at Baltimore City Community College. Currently I am working with an online teaching company teaching English to students in China.
I am extremely motivated to help you reach your highest potential and I believe that you are capable of accomplishing your goals - with hard work and determination. We will begin our time together with assessments which will assist me with learning what your strengths and needs are. After I have carefully examined your work I will create individualized lessons which will be tailored to your specific needs.
Parents - I want your feedback as well. After every session I will tell you exactly what we worked on and what your child's homework will be. I would also greatly appreciate your feedback which will help me to improve our lessons. I believe that every person learns differently and I will do my best to help your child be and feel successful.
