About
I’m Dr. Myrtle Webb and I’m an expert at teaching literacy and numeracy skills, grades k through college. I have 59 years of successful, professional experience as an educator. My 4 degrees are from Morgan State University, the Johns Hopkins University, and Temple University. I'm "old school" meaning that I teach my students the traditional phonics skills that enhance phonemic development needed for mastery of word recognition and comprehension. Similarly, I teach numeracy skills that enhance mathematical development. They learn. They make significant progress. They excel. academically. My students rank in the 98 percentile. I have many parent references. Call me at 443-621-0002 if you are serious about your child's academic success. Day, night and weekend options are available. However, consistency is important. A minimum of two times a week is recommended. Once weekly sessions do not produce the gains needed to impact test scores. Frequent cancellations will result in discontinuance of service. Full payment is required for same day cancellation.
Seeing my students go from "struggling" to "proficient" is absolutely thrilling. It's so worth the investment you make in their academic success. It is most gratifying to see students who have been "written off" by the schools excel at levels that no one ever expected. I'm very” old school” (traditional) and, more importantly, I'm a "result" oriented person. The franchises are no match for the services that I provide. I integrate Zaner Bloser handwriting, spelling and grammar skills in my literacy instruction! Day, night and weekend options are available. Your child is worth the investment. I do not provide intermittent service. Also, parental involvement is imperative.

Frequently asked questions
What is your typical process for working with a new student?
I am President and CEO of The Little "Read" School House. I personally provide thorough "one on one" instruction in diagnostic, remedial, corrective reading and developmental reading, as well as, decoding skills, phonemic awareness, word recognition skills, vocabulary development and comprehension. These skills are critical to student academic success. I'm also trained to work with students with severe disabilities , such as dyslexia. I'm a curriculum and instruction specialist and an academic coach. My instruction is very comprehensive and effective.
My professional materials are expertly developed, highly personalized, customized and individualized. Additional instruction is provided in comprehension strategies, which include "common core", critical and higher-order thinking skills. Test taking strategies are incorporated in my instruction process. Twice weekly sessions are highly recommended for best results. Results will vary depending on the frequency of instruction. I’m not cheap, quick or gimmicky! But I'm more reasonable than the pricey franchises. Also, I do not provide intermittent service. Frequent cancellations will also affect results. Consistency is very important to success. My sessions are 60 minutes in length. I expect my students to complete assigned home work. This practice is an integral part of the learning process for my students. I assure you that I will make your child a successful student! I'm the tutor that you want. And yes, I do teach mathematic numeracy.

Describe a recent event you are fond of.
Just last week one of my parents told me that she had seen a change in her child in about 3 instructional sessions. She noticed his increased confidence. I tell all of my students that they are smart. I make them feel like winners. They blossom and achieve!
What advice would you give a student looking to hire a teacher in your area of expertise?
Look at people's credentials. You don't have time, especially now, for people with no experience out to make a few quick bucks. They can do you more harm than good. I assure you. I won't disappoint you.
What questions should students think through before talking to teachers about their needs?
Most students in need of tutoring know that they are not performing up to the same level of their peers. During the initial informal assessment they start to reveal their strengths and weaknesses. As a learning specialist, I address them in my instructional plan.
