I am an experienced substitute teacher and Math tutor. Before becoming a professional tutor, I spent a number of years tutoring my friends and neighbors. I am very proud to watch as my tutees receive their diplomas and degrees before moving on in their careers. As a professional tutor I am willing (and able) to tutor in person or virtually. Most of my work is done on site (at a school), but I have also worked in the tutee’s home. I work with younger kids [elementary age] and older kids [middle/high school] my philosophy is that learning should be fun. In the summer I like to work with the kids ouside as much as possible. Let them run around and have fun but still be learning. I do things like number obstacle courses to learn numbers, addition, subtration, and multiplication and division. For older kids I find meeting outside of the house works best. If we meet at a starbucks or panera there's less stress. And it gives them a chance to feel more adult, like a college student.
