I have over 9 years experience as a certified high school and middle school science teacher. I have taught AP Biology, Biology, Chemistry, Enviornmental Science, Forensics, and Marine Biology. Because of my teaching experience, I am an expert in not only science content, but in pedagogy - meaning I am able to utilize different strategies to help you understand scientific concepts in ways best aligned to your own learning styles and background knowledge.

What is your typical process for working with a new student?
I begin with a simple student questionnaire to determine learning styles and preferences, content areas of concern and goals. In doing so I can make more efficient use of our time in how I present material and what I cover.
What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
Masters degree in teaching and leadership. Undergraduate degree in Biology. Nine years teaching experience in high school and middle school science classrooms, including AP Biology, Chemistry, Biology, Forensics, Environmental Science, and Marine Biology. Experience in biotechnology lab developing assays. Masters teaching in bioinformatics program sponsored by Rutgers and John Hopkins University in providing research opportunities for high school student.
How did you get started teaching?
Masters in teaching and leadership. Taught for over nine years in Maryland public school systems.
What types of students have you worked with?
Middle and High school at all levels. Co-taught special education classes and taught AP Biology classes.

Teaching styles, content knowledge, credentials.
