About
Hi my dear students and parents! I am a Middle school English teacher and an ESL adult Instructor but have experience teaching high school English/ Language Arts as well. I am certified to teach ELA to grades 6-12, however, I have experience working with children of all ages (ranged 4-20). I have two Master's Degrees in Education and English Language with a major in British Studies and Curriculum Design. I am a passionate caring teacher who strives to provide the best teaching services to her students.
I absolutely LOVE helping all of my students work toward their successes. My favorite part is seeing how hard a student works toward a goal, and when they reach that goal, the excitement and confidence they gain.

Frequently asked questions
What is your typical process for working with a new student?
When working with a new student, I prefer to get to know the student, his/her strengths and weaknesses, and where the student stands with the content. Once we have established what needs to be done, I work with the student to create a realistic plan on how to tackle the content.
What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
I have double Masters Degrees in Education and British Literature from Columbia College, MO with a certification in teaching ESL/ESOL students from Missouri University.
Previously before I moved to Maryland, I was teaching students k-12 in Columbia Public School from 2003-2008 and then I worked as a full time English teacher for middle school students until 2015. From 2015-2017 I moved to DC to teach in DCPS as a reading teacher for Middle School students.
I am currently teaching ESL Adults Education in Anne Arundel Community college and a full time teacher in MCPS teaching ELA reading and writing for Middle school students. This is my 18 years of teaching experience.
Do you have a standard pricing system for your lessons? If so, please share the details here.

What advice would you give a student looking to hire a teacher in your area of expertise?
I would advice students to look for a knowledgable passionate teacher whose priorty is creating a lifelong learner with strong foundational skills in reading and writing.
What questions should students think through before talking to teachers about their needs?
Students need to be specific about their needs so the teacher can create a realistic plan to help students according to their immedate needs.
