About

I have 500+ hours of experience tutoring students in writing, literacy, grammar, and English. As a teacher in training, I am very passionate about giving each student as much time and effort that they need to help them succeed. I look forward to working with you!

I love my students and am so grateful for the opportunity to work with them. Every writer comes in with great ideas, and it is my job to help them learn how to express those ideas. It is the greatest joy to aid in that process.

Frequently asked questions

With every new student, I want to establish expectations for our session or sessions, depending on how long term this student plans to work with me. I want to know what this student expects out of these sessions, so I can either work towards these expectations in our sessions or adjust these expectations to fit with my tutoring standards. My goal is to create better readers and writers, not just better assignments and papers. Thus, I will want to make sure that each student has expectations that line up with this goal. This goal setting with normally only take up a small amount of time in our first session, averaging around 5-10 minutes. After this is finished, we can move on to start the tutoring process on whatever the student has brought or decided to work on.

I graduated Summa Cum Laude St Olaf College this past year with degrees in English and Asian Studies with a minor in Education. At St Olaf, I worked at a College Reading and Learning Association certified writing center, in which I was trained to be a tutor and worked with a wide variety of college age students on the entire process of writing papers, from brainstorming to learning basic grammar concepts to final edits. In addition, I worked as a classroom aid in various high school English classes during undergrad and worked as a literacy tutor for kids in grades 1-5 in an  AmeriCorps summer reads program in the summer of 2020.

I am currently in graduate school at Loyola University Maryland, working to receive a Masters of Arts in Teaching in Secondary English Education. I will complete this degree by May of 2022.

On average, I run half hour long sessions, although students can sign up for more time if needed. Each half hour session is $10.

I have worked with students ranging from 1st grade to college age. These students have been from all kinds of racial, socioeconomic, and ethnic backgrounds. I have experience working with bilingual and international students.
