English, Reading And ESOL Tutoring
About
I have been an elementary school para educator for 10 years in Baltimore County. I specialize in reading, language arts, and ESOL. I have a passion for teaching children phonemic awareness, reading, and how to speak, read, and write the English language.
I enjoy teaching children and seeing the joy and pride they have when they master a skill, get a good grade on an assignment, or write that first sentence in English! Seeing a child struggle with reading and then watching as they progress and improve is the most rewarding job I can imagine!

Frequently asked questions
What is your typical process for working with a new student?
I first like to talk to the student to get familiar with them and make them feel comfortable. If we are working on reading, then we will start out by assessing their reading level to see what we need to work on. Phonemic awareness goes along the same lines. We will assess letters, letter sounds and sounding out words to see where we need to start. With ESOL students I like to start by having a conversation and having them write just a little bit so I can see where we need to begin.
What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
I have been a para educator in Baltimore County for 10 years. I have a Bachelors Degree in Psychology/Child Development with a minor in Special Education. For the last 10 years I have also worked with ESOL students very closely, tracing them to speak, read, and write English.
Do you have a standard pricing system for your lessons? If so, please share the details here.
I charge $20/30 minutes and $40/hour.
How did you get started teaching?
I got started being a para educator by substituting in my son’s school when he was in Kindergarten. But truly, my desire to teach and work with children began when I was in elementary school. My mainstream school merged with a special needs school. Each mainstream class had a special needs buddy class. I remember even then knowing I wanted to work with children and help them achieve and succeed.
What types of students have you worked with?
I have worked with all elementary school aged children both mainstream education as well as special education. I have also worked with many ESOL students.
