Mercy O.

I'm Mercy O. and I'm a student at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT). I specialize in tutoring middle school to high school math (Algebra, Precalculus, Calculus) and SAT Prep (Math, Reading, and Writing & Language). I scored an 800 in SAT Math and a 5 in AP Calculus BC. Additionally, I have multiple years of experience tutoring students after school and I’ve served as an instructor and counselor at an SAT summer camp in New York for the past two years.

As a college student myself, I understand how important the teaching style is in helping students assimilate. I also understand how COVID caused many students to fall behind and how important it is to find a way to catch up. Because of my experience so far, my approach to teaching is more personal and geared towards the specific needs of each student. My goal with each session is to strengthen the foundational knowledge of my students and help them develop skills that ensure that they can tackle any related problem confidently. I also believe that a safe and encouraging space promotes learning and I strive to create that welcoming environment for my students, where they can feel heard and appreciated.
