Neuroscientist Tutors Math And Science
About
Hi, my name is Emily! I am a neuroscientist pursuing my PhD in Biochemistry, Cellular, and Molecular Biology at Johns Hopkins University School of Medicine.
I have always had a passion for learning and communicating science. I graduated from the University of Pittsburgh in 2014 with a degree in Biological Sciences and will obtain my PhD in Dec. 2020. I have a deep understanding of biology and related areas including genetics, ecology, and evolution as well as chemistry and biochemistry. I have experience tutoring science of all levels (elementary, middle school and high school sciences as well as college level biology courses). I also have a background in math up to the level of calculus and am comfortable tutoring elementary, middle, and high school math. Additionally, I minored in Spanish in college and can tutor speaking, reading, and writing skills as well as grammar and vocabulary.
I have tutored >200+ hours, with many hours being conducted online. You can view my other tutoring profile here: https://www.wyzant.com/match/tutor/85576757
I believe in one-on-one tutoring sessions tailored to the student's learning style and specific needs and am willing to help with homework assignments, test preparation, and starting from the basics on particular concepts that a student is struggling with. Thanks for reading through my profile and I hope to hear from you soon!

What questions should students think through before talking to teachers about their needs?
Focus on a specific question, don't just say "I need help." The more specific you are, the better a teacher will be able to help you.
Example:
1. I don't understand this math problem, can you explain how to solve it?
2. I don't know why I got this answer wrong on the test. Could you explain why I was wrong?
