About this tutor

I have a doctorate in physical therapy (DPT) and my passion in undergrad and grad school was being a teaching assistant! My dream even before becoming a PT was to eventually switch to being a professor in the field! After my DPT, I dived head first into the neurological field of rehab thus getting additional certifications in stroke, Parkinson's, vetigo, and more! I am a business ownder of my own mobile concierge therapy called Woo Physical Therapy and Wellness (www.wooptw.com) because concierge gives me the freedom to treat clients beyond just the "out of pain" stage and instead to being better than before! Contact me at [email protected] for questions!

What is your typical process for working with a new student?

I like to get a clear understanding of what a student's goals are for working with me. Are they currently in an anatomy and physiology class? Are they planning to go on to the health field after college? After that we can sit down and review the material the are going over or may go over in the future and adjust our plan from there. I like to understand if a person learns best by reading on their own and then discussing with the tutor vs having it read to them and reviewing it on their own later.

What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?

During my doctorate program for physical therapy, anatomy and physiology, neurology were by the far the heaviest work loads in terms of time dedicated to learning these subjects. At the same time, I took on the role as teaching assistant both during undergrad and grad school and learned that teaching was my passion.

Do you have a standard pricing system for your lessons? If so, please share the details here.

If traveling to me or online, the price is $85/hr. I can travel to you for a travel fee of $2/min (one way).

How did you get started teaching?

Was tutoring my classmates for free in biology, anatomy, and neurology and then decided to be a TA just to get more organized experience and loved it!

What types of students have you worked with?

I have taught math several years ago a 4th grader, 8th grade math to my step-daughter, and finally undergrad and graduate students in the sciences.

Describe a recent event you are fond of.

My step-daughter has several learning disabilities so teaching her these past few years has been incredibly transformative in my approach. I was so used to teaching people on a college level that teaching her really forced me to improve further my explanation skills.

What advice would you give a student looking to hire a teacher in your area of expertise?

Find someone who genuinely enjoys teaching! Passion can only be faked for so long and if you ask any of my students, I cared about their learning more then they did (although they cared a ton otherwise I couldn't continue working with them).

What questions should students think through before talking to teachers about their needs?

What are your goals for working with a tutor? Is this for a class, a job, a hobby? This will be your motivating factor for pushing yourself.
