About

I believe I have something to offer over other science tutors: I am currently in school to become a medical illustrator, and so I have been able to create my very own drawings, charts, diagrams, and other teaching tools to help anyone who wishes to learn! In my experience with utilizing very visual methods of learning, I have been able to find success with students who have learning difficulties, learning disabilities, and/or any other kind of disability. To me, anyone who wants to learn and better understand something should get that chance, no matter what they may need or what method of learning they do best with!

Hello! My name is Madelyn and I am currently in pursuit of my Bacehlor's of Science degree in Public Health Science from the University of Maryland. I graduated from the Community College of Baltimore County with top honors and my Associate's degree. It was there that I took human anatomy and physiology one and two, molecular and cellular biology, and microbiology and got straight A's in all of them, maintaining a perfect 4.0 GPA at the top of my class. I have always loved science, but in these classes I discovered a real passion for it and when some of my fellow classmates asked me if I could help them study, my love of tutoring and teaching started to grow. With my professor's encouragement, I began tutoring in small groups and since then I have helped tutor all across the science spectrum! Not only are these subjects that I love, but I loved seeing the "aha!" moment on my classmate's faces when I helped them and the relieved smiles they had when they got back a test or quiz that they were able to do better on. As a student myself, I am able to truly empathize with students of any age, and that kind of understanding is very valuable when it comes to helping someone grow.

My preferred subjects to tutor in are human anatomy and physiology, molecular and cellular biology, and general biology, at the high school or college level. However, I can also help with more general sciences for kids in middle and elementary school and would love to help you/your student in any way that I can!

Thank you for your time and consideration!

Frequently asked questions

After introducing myself, I will typically ask the student what areas they feel like they need the most help with and what it is they ultimately hope to get out of our tutoring sessions.  Then I will ask some general questions to try and figure  out which learning method, or combination of methods, would help them the most!

As stated in my bio, I completed human anatomy and physiology 1 and 2, molecular and cellular biology, and microbiology at the college level with a perfect 4.0 GPA.  At the encouragement of my teachers and professors, I began tutoring my classmates in small groups and have sinced helped others, including those with special needs.  I am a medical science student and am pursuing a Bachelor's of Science degree in Public Health Science at the University of Maryland and plan to go on to become a medical illustrator.

For general or lower level sciences, my base is fifteen dollars/hour.  For the higher level sciences, 30 dollars/hour.  However, I am willing to work with anyone and adjust my rates as need be!  I am extremely understanding of tough financial times.

I have worked with all types of students!  I originally started working with my fellow college students, but I have also helped high school students and elementary school students, as well as students with disabilities.  No matter your grade, learning circumstances, or how much help you feel you may need, I can help you!
