Dziennik History Tutoring
About
I have the experience, knowledge, and personality that will help any student gain a better grasp of the study of the past. With a BA in History from the University of Mary Washington, a Masters and PhD from the University of Edinburgh, ten years of teaching experience, and experience running student support services (i.e. Writing Center, Learning Communities, Library Support), I have the skills to help even the most struggling student.
I love watching students get excited about history. History for many people is about names, dates, battles, and "all things boring" - but it doesn't have to be. I love inspiring students to want to continue learning. I hope to not only get students through grueling classes, but also to spark a genuine interest in the subject.

Frequently asked questions
What is your typical process for working with a new student?
- I like to get to know the student before we start working on the study of history. It is so important to understand the student's learning style and personality so that I know the best way to help them learn. So, I first ask their likes, dislikes, future goals, and the the things they enjoy.
- I then ask what specifically the student wants to achieve with tutoring. Is it help with a specific assignment, to get a passing grade, or to improve more generally?
- The students will go through a short assessment to see where they are, before the student and I create a tailored work plan. I like to include the student in this process so they have some ownership over the lessons.
- We will then work through the tailored plan to help the student improve in their study of history.
