Strategies For Students, LLC
About
As a local Wilson Dyslexia Practitioner and Executive Function Coach, I would love the opportunity to provide support to you and your family. My services include: instruction for reading disabilities, ADD/ADHD, executive functioning disabilities, and guidance in IEP or 504 meetings.
As an experienced special education teacher (since September 2001), I can provide high quality and cost-effective services to families and students. I have helped numerous students and families in the public schools and want to expand that impact.

Frequently asked questions
What is your typical process for working with a new student?
I have an intake form that gathers information about my incoming students to allow me to focus where to start the coaching process. I like to help the student understand their strengths and weaknesses and how to change their mindset to accept their brain and help it grow.
What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
I have an undergraduate and graduate degree in elementary education and special education. In addition I've been a certified special education teacher working with students and families since 2001. In addition, I am a certified Wilson Dyslexia Practioner and have several professional development courses in executive functioning.
How did you get started teaching?
I enjoyed being a Peer Education Program leader in high school and never stopped helping students learn and grow.
What types of students have you worked with?
I have worked with mild to moderate special education students with specific learning disabilities, including dyslexia and executive functioning disorders, students with anxiety disorders and ADHD as well as students with severe trauma disorders.
What advice would you give a student looking to hire a teacher in your area of expertise?
I think the student needs to hear how intelligent and creative they are in addition to what they need support in. Often the students I work with are very intelligent and need a few different strategies and conversations before they begin to see that they do know how to complete the work and be successful.
