Frequently asked questions
What is your typical process for working with a new student?
Typically, the process for a new student includes meeting them and their family either at their home or at an agreed-upon location, such as the local public library. A quick introduction about you (favorite things such as food, music, movies, and books) is followed by sharing a story, read-aloud, or challenge problem. Once a little more comfortable, we could go in any number of directions to identify and begin the most important learning that is wanted: -find a book to start -pick up with current schoolwork -revise an assessment -experiment and explore...
What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
I have worked in Massachusetts Public Schools for about twenty years and am currently employed at a local public charter school (grades 7-12). I have a Master's degree in education from Antioch New England Graduate School. I am married and have one child in college and another in high school.
