About
I named my business "Creative Success" for a reason! It is because I teach using very creative methods and materials. Oftentimes, when a student has been struggling with a subject or specific topic area being taught in a more "traditional" manner in school, success is achieved when the student is "connected with" by the tutor/teacher. I find this occurs through a more individualized approach, focused on the student's unique needs and interests.
I love working with children and adolescents! I enjoy working with all different types of learners. I have a great deal of experience working with a wide range of students - Preschool into Highschool; in a great many subject areas - ELA, Math, Social Studies/Science, Art/Music, and Study Skills; and with a wide range of Learning Abilities, including many Disabilities (ADD/ADHD, Autism, Dyslexia, Anxiety Disorders, etc), as well as Gifted Students. I also love the challenge of developing lessons for so many different learning experiences.
I also have a passion for teaching Homeschool. I have not only tutored, but I have also taught Homeschool for 15 years, both in person and online! In terms of in person, I have a classroom set up in my home, totally equipped with desks, whiteboard, bulletin boards, curriculum books, and tons of reading books, as well as manipulatives and other teaching materials!

Frequently asked questions
What is your typical process for working with a new student?
Building a rapport is very important in the beginning. In order to work together well, we need to get to know each other well! So, I begin there; chatting, playing games, discussing the student's needs and interests, etc.
My teaching approach is to focus on each student's individual learning style, utilizing various methods amd materials, appropriate to each student's unique needs and interests. My students usually find my sessions to be both productive and creative, as well as fun!
In terms of homeschooling, as I get to know the student and his/her needs, I begin by developing a customized curriculum and schedule. What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
I have a Bachelors Degree in Science in Social Work, from Bridgewater State College (BSW).
Prior to that, I spent two years studying at Wheaton College, with a Major in Psychology, and a Minor in Education.
I also have Training from the Federation for Children with Special Needs in Educational Advocacy.
