About
What I believe makes my services stand out is my commitment to promoting study techniques and organizational skills, as well as really trying to source the root causes of why someone needs tutoring in the first place. My job is not only to clarify course materials, but to make you not need me anymore!
I have my undergraduate degree in Environmental Science, with a focus in biology, so I am up to date on current math and science curriculums. In addition, I actively work as an Science, Math and English tutor at Asnuntuck Community College, so I am helpful in language pursuits as well! I also have worked for Springfield Technical Community College as a TRIO tutor, tutoring non-traditional and ESL students in subject areas such as English, Math, Biology, and Chemistry, in addition to working for myself, serving a wide array of subjects and ages.
What I enjoy most about the work I do is encouraging my clients to carry the acts of learning and critical thinking outside of our sessions. I truly believe my goal as a tutor is to make the student not need me, and watching that transformation in the student is extremely rewarding.

Frequently asked questions
What is your typical process for working with a new student?
When I first meet a student I like to ask them the following questions:
-Why did you come to see me today? Was it for a particular assignment or project, because of a lack of understanding of the course materials, etc.
-Why do you think you are having these issues in class or with the assignment? Is it because your classroom is too noisy, are you distracted by friends, do you fundamentally have a hard time with the material, are assignemnts hard to organize or start, etc.
-What do you expect to get out of our time today? Do you plan to complete a particular assignment, really grasp a certain concept, want to be organized for future success in the class, etc.
-Where do you see yourself in a year? This question is mainly for college or graduating high school students, as it is important to plan ahead for what skills you will need in the future

Education History:
-Graduated from high school one year early with a 4.14 GPA inorder to begin my college studies early
-Attended Springfield Techincal Community College, graduated with Honors and a 3.67 GPA
-Attended Westfield State University, graudated Magna Cum Laude with a 3.6 GPA
Do you have a standard pricing system for your lessons? If so, please share the details here.
I do not have standard pricing options as it greatly depends on how far I have to travel, length of the session, level of education, etc. A rough estimate of prices are as follows:
Elementary through High School: $30-$35
College: $50
Study/Orgnizational Skills, College Essay Help, Essay Review: $30/hr (dependent on task)

How did you get started teaching?
I got started teaching in high school when I joined the Peer Tutoring Club. I served as president of this club and continued tutoring when I began attending Springfield Techinical COmmunity College (STCC). While at STCC, I gained experience tutoring a wide array of non traditional students and really found my passion for tutoring! After graduating from STCC I took a one year break from tutoring at a college and only saw clinets privately. Following this break I began to tutor at Asnuntuck Community college as an embedded English tutor, meaning I work in the classroom with a professor serving essentially as a teachr's aid. I also tutor for the Connecticut Department of Corrections through Asnuntuck and run a English study group alone.
What types of students have you worked with?
I have worked with every type of student you can imagine! Young, old, ESL, special needs, prisoners, etc.
Describe a recent event you are fond of.
A recent event I am fond of occurred at the end of this past Spring 2019 semster, while working for the Connecticut DOC. Both groups that I tutored, at two seperate facilities, came to the last study session not to study- but to thank me for my time and for helping them to express themselves more effectively. This was the highlight of my career at Asnuntuck.
A bonus event was when I brought my middle school client up from a C to an A average in math. Seeing the confidence in her face during our end of the school year meetings was extremely fulfilling.
What advice would you give a student looking to hire a teacher in your area of expertise?
I have simple advice for students looking for a teacher/tutor:
Find one who is invested in your overall success, not just the sucess of your sessions. The goal of a tutor should be to have you not need them, so if you feel your sessions are stagnant, move on!
What questions should students think through before talking to teachers about their needs?
Before meeting with a tutor, brainstorm the following:
-What do I need help with?
-Why do I need help with this?
-Have I read through my assignment? Do I understand what it is asking? If not make notes!
-What are my academic weaknesses? i.e. trouble with course material, trouble reading, trouble focusing, trouble organizing, etc.
-What are your strangths? Since everyone absorbs information differently, this will help the tutor point you in the right direction
