Marathon Mathematics
About
I have tutored both in large and small groups, however, what makes my service truly special is the learning style is how I impart pedagogical content knowledge to my students.
I enjoy watching my students progress through their coursework with a solid understanding of the subject matter.

Frequently asked questions
What is your typical process for working with a new student?
I first ask what they are having problems with, and in doing so I usually diagnose a serious weakness. I had the one such student who was enrolled in college pre-calculus and discovered she didn't have any background in trigonometry. I then gave her a sample trigonometry worksheet on angle theorem, and the six ratios, as a supplemental lesson.
What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
I hold several undergraduate and graduate degrees;
BSE, Elem Educ/Math, Westfield State College, Westfield, MA
Graduate study in mathematics/physics, University of Massachusetts, Amherst, MA
MA, M.Ed. Elms College, Chicopee, MA
Do you have a standard pricing system for your lessons? If so, please share the details here.
The same price per hour $25.00 for the past 30 years
How did you get started teaching?
My dear uncle was an educator for 38 years, and so I had patterned my career using his pedagogical model of teaching and learning.
What types of students have you worked with?
A wide variety of students from learning disabilities, through the gifted student.
Describe a recent event you are fond of.
I had worked with one such student who had a differential diagnosis of ADHD while a first-year student. I had tutored the young man for three straight hours on basic algebra, and after three hours he had answered all the equations with success.
What advice would you give a student looking to hire a teacher in your area of expertise?
To hire an educator who is seasoned with experience
What questions should students think through before talking to teachers about their needs?
1. Can the student find the solution online through the various free and paid teaching modules
2. Is the student more comfortable with a 1:1 teacher that they can ask questions through an open dialogue.
