What is your typical process for working with a new student?
Find out what the stumbling blocks are.
Encourage the student that the issue with the process and that it's not that they can't do math - everyone can do math.
Teach the tips and tricks to find the answer with confidence, and then through repetion create a plan so no matter what the problem can be solved each time accurately.
What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
I received my math minor in 2001, and have been tutoring family and friends since around that time.
I've also been a math and statistics teacher in college since 2010, and have honed my teach skills while showing student how to solve complicated math problems in an uncomplicated way.
Do you have a standard pricing system for your lessons? If so, please share the details here.
I'm new to this, and I would consider it hourly instead of session based. Based on the research I believe a fair price is $40-$60 based on the level math involved and the travel.
How did you get started teaching?
I was working full time as a IT person at Suffolk University, and there was a low level adjuncting position that I was able to work in my full time job and it started from there.
What types of students have you worked with?
All ages. All levels of skills and expertise.
Describe a recent event you are fond of.
When I first was tutoring I was helping twins with their trigonometry homework. When I explained the inner working of the "Unit Circle" and the light when off in one brother's head and he said "wait, it's that easy", it was quite rewarding for me.
