What is your typical process for working with a new student?
My typical process for working with a new student is to learn, Day one, how to best help student accomplish his or her goals in a student-appropriate, efficient way. This means working gother to customize the best plan for acamedic Success. Family engagement has always been a key component for success at CMECC over the years.
What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
I have over 10 plus years of Educational experience and classroom experience, working with a broad range of students—consisting of English language arts, English Language Learners (ELL), literacy, numeracy and Pre-12 students. I also have a Masters in Education in Teaching, Learning and Transitional Programs with Distinction, 2006.
Do you have a standard pricing system for your lessons? If so, please share the details here.
Pricing system for lessons are set by number of lessons over the term of the program. Most students average between 13 and 26 lessons, 1-2 times a week, 45-60 minutes per session. Individual quotes are available upon request.
How did you get started teaching?
My passion for teaching begin when I was a child. I come from a great family and community of caring teachers and educators. I initially became involved in professional teaching to help my elementary school aged daughter who developed special needs after a tree fell on our car that we in when exiting a parking lot. I enjoy helping students accomplish their academic goals and preparing them to become tomorrow’s leaders today.
What types of students have you worked with?
I have worked with students from a culturally- diverse and centered background with an array of learning styles and disabilities, ie., English language arts, English Language Learners (ELL), literacy, phonemics awareness, phonetics and PreK-12 students across the MA curriculum to accelerate learning and lessen the achievement gap since 2006.
Describe a recent event you are fond of.
I had the opportunity to learn about the vital services and resources that the Massachusetts Public Health and Early Intervention contributes in the lives of children and families. Since a great deal of the experience and knowledge learned are transferable—the takeaway has been valuable when working with children and students for CMECC.
What advice would you give a student looking to hire a teacher in your area of expertise?
My advice to a student looking to hire a teacher in my area of expertise, is Expertise- often means that the price will be reasonably higher. However, it is often backed by scientific studies, in the long run, that it will be worth it.
What questions should students think through before talking to teachers about their needs?
It is my experience, students must be realistic about what they want to accomplish and how committed they are about reaching their goals.
